Here is a quick check list that you need to go through when you are buying white pearls: 1. What is the origin? Make sure they are either freshwater or Akoya. Costume pearls, shell pearls, faux pearls, imitation pearls - aren't real pearls. 2. Are the pearls round? This is the most common pitfall. Very often vendors emphasise the lustre, and you think you are getting an amazing deal... Make sure you look at the shape. More often that not you will get button or potato shape pearls. Interview with Alicia Jo Johnson, a model who loves Tropica Pearls How did you start modelling? Was there a single moment when you felt inspired and decided you were going to be a model? Alicia wearing Tropica Pearls. Photographer: Jaida Moore When I was younger, I watched 7th Heaven (I know it's so cliche). Jessica Biel was amazing - she also did modelling. I saw her fashion spread in Seventeen magazine and loved it. I just always loved fashion. I would try to do my make up at an early age. The purple lipstick at age 13 was a very bold choice! I was hugely inspired by 90s pop culture and fashions back then. I know they are going to be in style again...
